We were fortunate enough to have school nurses in our class yesterday to talk to us about the importance of healthy eating. The children were stunned to learn how much sugar is contained in fizzy drinks and other types of foods. I was very impressed that many children could talk about which food groups provide vitamins, minerals, calcium and carbohydrates. It was important to discuss why water is the healthiest drink option and we discussed ‘hydration’ and how it helps keep our brains working to their best levels.
