Over the next two days we would like you to look at the attached image and draft, edit and up level a piece of descriptive writing. If you are able to print out the picture you could brainstorm adjectives and noun phrases about the image to get you started.
Once you have considered your senses (i.e what can you see and do not just think about colour and size, think about texture) you can begin drafting sentences.
Remember to vary your sentence openers and think about conjunctions as well as exciting vocabulary. A dictionary will be useful and if you do not have one at home there are online ones.
After you have drafted your writing, it is best to revisit this tomorrow so that you are looking at it with a fresh pair of eyes. Then you can up level it – use a different coloured pen to improve adjectives or add adverbs before writing it in your best handwriting. You could also type up your description if you wish.
