Hello Year 3,
We hope you had a good weekend. This week we would like you to start the week with some fractions.
Equivalent Fractions – have a go at the worksheets below. Choose which challenge you would like to try, if the first is not challenging enough move to the second. You are welcome to complete both! An equivalent fraction has the same value but might look different. Pictorial representations might help understand this. Adding Fractions (with the same denominator)
Remind yourself of which part of the fraction is the numerator and which is the denominator (you can even test your parents/carers). When adding fractions with the same denominator, you add the numerators together to find the numerator of your answer, then the denominator stays the same! For example,

We will post some more activities later in the week. Please keep checking the blog for updates and you can share your work by posting on this blog post.
Keep well and safe, Miss Hollis and Miss Bedesha.
Activity idea: Why not explore fractions further using food! You could look at equivalent fractions using pizza, cake or just paper! Can you make different fractions? A half? A quarter? A tenth?
Challenge: Try this pizza problem and explain your answer.
