What time is it?
Hello Year 2,
We hope you all had a lovely long weekend!
This week, your challenge is to learn to tell the time. We would like you to learn o’clock, half past, quarter past and quarter to. Some of you might even get onto five minute intervals!
Here are some activities which might help you with your challenge:
1)Go to the MyMaths website and log in. https://login.mymaths.co.uk/login
Click on Measurement in the library on the left hand side and scroll down to the Year 2 lessons on telling the time. You can work through the lessons, then if you want some more practice, you can click on the online homework for each lesson. You don’t need a password for these – just click the ‘Practice’ button.
2) There are lots of other online games and activities you could try too:
In the Mathematics area on PurpleMash, you will also find a section all about telling the time in ‘Measures’.
3) If you would rather do something away from the computer, try telling the time on different clocks around the house. Can you match the analogue and digital times?
4) Or you could keep a timetable of your day, writing down what you do and when. How long do you spend on each activity?
5) Another idea is to make your own analogue clock face using a paper plate and use it to practise telling the time.
Feel free to share your learning by attaching it to a comment beneath this post, or email it to firstname.lastname@example.org
We look forward to seeing how well you get on with this challenge! Good luck!
Love Mrs Houghton and Mrs Taylor.
