Hello Magnificient Marmalade Minions,
Hope everyone is well. Did you all had a lovely weekend? What did you get up to?
I have decided to change this week’s writing task as we are approaching the end of our superheros topic and moving on to aspects of our theme on Flight after half term. This week, I have assigned two different activities- one on Eliot- Midnight Superhero and the other on a new book titled Supertato by . You only need to attempt one of the activities.
You all know the Eliot story which is about a boy who is quiet by day but transforms into a superhero when the clock strikes midnight! You can listen to the story again here- ELIOT.
Supertato on the other hand, is a… potato with super powers! Yes, you heard me! How cool is that?!
He’s the superhero with eyes everywhere – but now there’s a pea on the loose. A very, very naughty pea. Has Supertato finally met his match? Listen to the story to find out!
Click here for the Supertato Audio book.
Here’s your challenge for this week:
- Use capital letters at the beginning of sentences and for proper nouns like names
- Use conjunctions like and, but, because to join sentences.
- Use some onomatopoeia in your writing like BANG!
- Use punctuation correctly (full stops, exclamation or even question marks where appropriate)
TASK 1- ELIOT- MIDNIGHT SUPERHERO
Write a Chronological report
-Listen to the Eliot story again. Now write how he saves the day in a chronological order (this means in the order in which it happened) Who did he save first? Who did he save next?
Use words like First, Second, Next, Then, After that, Finally to begin your sentences. You can also number your sentences.
First, Eliot helps the mayor and saves the town from the fierce lions. He leads them back to the zoo bravely as the whole town cheers!
Can you spot my capital letters, conjunctions and exclamation marks?
TASK 2- SUPERTATO
– Write sentences to describe Supertato. I would love to see a good range of adjectives (describing words).
-Then, create you own vegetable/fruit superhero. What would you name them?
So choose! Eliot or Supertato- What would it be?
