Well done Emerald Class! I have been so impressed with your hard work and perseverance in our Maths, English, Reading and Theme lessons.
In Maths, we have been learning all about place value: the value of 2 and 3-digit numbers, representing them 2 and 3-digit numbers in different ways, counting on in 10 and 100, working with number lines up to 1000 and comparing numbers.
In English we have been reading the stories Cave Baby by Julia Donaldson and The Stone Age Boy by Satoshi Kitamura. We have used these texts to inspire our own writing, retelling Cave Baby in the first person and using images from The Stone Age Boy to write setting descriptions.
We also learnt that our Theme for Autumn term is Stone Age, so if you would like to do some of your own research at home, this will help you in lessons to come!
Finally, we have been reading Charlotte’s Web By E. B. White as our class text. We have been using our Listening and Noticing tools to understand the text, as well as making inferences on characters feelings.
It has been a fantastic start to the year, and I hope you can keep it up!
