Hello to all of our Brilliant Buttercups and Super Sunflowers!
We are so sorry that we are not in school together and we are really looking forward to being back together soon. We will be setting you some activities to do at home this week.
In Maths, we are starting a unit of work on addition and subtraction, focusing on our number bonds to 10 and 20. Below, you will find links to teaching videos for each day as well as a selection of worksheets to keep you busy!
In English, we have been learning about newspaper reports and we would like you to plan and write your own news report about the Great Fire of London. You can use this site to help you to remember the facts:
Below, is a Powerpoint presentation to guide you through the planning and writing stage, and each section of the report. It is best to spread out the writing over the week:
Monday – planning sheet
Tuesday – Headline and introduction
Wednesday – Main part of the article, including a quote from an eyewitness
Thursday – Conclusion
Friday – Reading task
In addition, here are two lessons from Oak National Academy about our Theme of the Great Fire of London.
And finally, some Phonics! Practise reading the real and alien word on this Powerpoint.
Then complete the table on the worksheet to sort real and nonsense words.
Don’t forget to share your learning here or send it to
You can, of course, bring any completed work into school when we are all back together.
Love from Mrs Houghton and Mrs Taylor.
