Our dear Poppies and Rubies, welcome back to another exciting week as we continue to explore our theme- Out of the Egg- Dragons and Dinosaurs. We will be diving into a new book this week and we are excited about sharing this new story with you! Find below, a detailed breakdown for each area of learning.
This week, is Children’s Mental Health Week and we will be completing a range of mindfulness activities. To mark this, we’ll be having ‘No Screen Wednesday‘. It means, there will be no live lessons on Wednesday and you need to complete all your Wednesday activities practically without a screen or computer! We all think you are all being brave at home; helping the grown-ups you live with, completing your school work and playing with your toys.
Here are some ideas or activities for you to try:
- Can you create a picture to show all the brave things you can do? It could be that you have stayed in bed all night or tasted something new or learnt to do something you find tricky or even picked up a spider. You could use photographs, paint, felt tips or even send us a video message.
- Go for a walk and see how many birds you can spot.
- Make a bird feeder – you could thread lopped cereal onto string.
- Share an act of kindness- phone a family member, help at home, draw a picture and send it through the post to a friend or family member.
- Play a board game
Most importantly have fun!

Today is our second session where we will learn about weight. In our live lesson, we will find out how we can weigh items using non-standard measures.
Activity suggestion (please do not feel the cooking activity has to be done)
At home, if you have bathroom scales you may want to use them to weigh yourself or if you have cooking scales you may want to use them to measure out ingredients to bake biscuits or cookies.
Practice your Key Instant Recall Facts (KIRFs). You might want to focus on counting back from 20 or 10 and finding 1 less than a number.

Understanding of the world (Science)
This week, we are going to find out about different types of dinosaurs and what they ate. See if you can find out what these words mean:
You can watch this short PowerPoint to help you: Dinosaurs- omnivore, carnivore and herbivore.
When you know what they mean, see if you can sort all the dinosaurs you know into different groups.
Another fascinating activity, is to visit The Natural History Museum website where you can go on a virtual tour and there are many dinosaurs to find and explore. The site takes a lot of navigating but it is well worth it if you persevere!
