Over the last few weeks we have been learning about life cycles!
First, we explored the life cycle of a butterfly when we read ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’ by Eric Carle. We watched videos about life-cycles of a range insects, mini-beasts and animals that come from eggs.
We know the four stages : egg – caterpillar – cocoon – butterfly!
Next, we read ‘Beware of the Frog’ by William Bee, which we enjoyed. We linked this to our learning in art and science where we explored the life cycle of frogs and completed some frog crafts. It was a lovely experience to watch our frog spawn change through a process called metamorphosis!
We know that first, the adult frog lays eggs called frog spawn. Next, they become tadpoles and then, they grow into froglets. Finally, they become frogs!
Look at our lovely frog spawn below. What stage of the life cycle are the now?Lifecycles
Mrs Maskell has taken our lovely tadpoles back to their original habitat where they will continue to grow as we cannot keep them in school over the Easter holidays.
Mrs shepherd on the other hand, has taken our beautiful caterpillars home which are now at the cocoon stage. We would send you pictures and short clips once they become butterflies.
