This week was packed with fun, excitement and of course, learning!
We have been reading Mr Gumpy’s Outing by John Burningham. At the end of the story, Mr Gumpy, the children and the animals had a tea- party! Ruby Class thought it was a great idea to have one as well and we did!
First, we made a list of what we might need for a tea party and on that list we noticed that jam sandwiches were quite popular so we decided to learn how to make them. We made a list of the ingredients and utensils. Then we learnt how to write instructions! The best part was making and eating the sandwiches. They were delicious!
Next, we learnt about measures in maths. We learnt to compare and measure the weight, length and capacity of objects. We also learnt to use the correct vocabulary associated with the different measures. Some of the new words we learnt are nearly full, nearly empty, half full and half empty.
After that, we took a visit to France! The whole school had it’s language day on Friday so we listened to some French songs and learnt to greet in French. At register time, we responded in French, saying, “Bonjour Madame”.
Finally, we had a tea party! We also celebrated Mrs Shepherd’s birthday with some special treats. We enjoyed playing outdoors as the weather was beautiful. At the end of the day, we had some ice lollies!
What a busy week we have had in Reception! Below are some pictures from our week.
