We welcomed lots of our parents into pre-school for a playdough workshop. We showed them how to make playdough and talked about how good playdough is at supporting their child’s development.
When we make playdough we learn it is ok to get messy, we count and measure the ingredients, we follow instructions, we use the big muscles in our arms to stir, we learn to take turns to make the dough together and we talk about how the dough feels. Finally when we play with the dough it exercises the muscles in our hands and wrists which we need to be strong so that we are able to hold a pen to draw and write with good control.
Everyone went home with some dough and a recipe. We are hoping our families will try making playdough at home now they know how easy it is.
