Hello Rubies, welcome back to the final half term of year! All our Rubies were excited to dive into our new theme.
Did you guess the theme after reading out last post? Well, if you said vehicles, travelling or transportation, then, you are correct! Our theme this half term is ‘All aboard!’ and we will be exploring different modes of transportation and journeys.
Our first stop is a visit to Burkina Faso in Africa! We are currently reading ‘All Aboard for the Bobo road‘ by Stephen Davies and Christopher Corr. You can click on the link to listen to the story. What we found most fascinating is that all the landmarks in the story are actually real!
This story about Big Ali, a bus drive who with the help of his children, Fatima and Galo, takes his passengers on an adventurous bus ride along what he calls the most beautiful road in the world. They make several stops and more people and luggage get on the bus. At one stop, the luggage is alive! There are ducks, chickens and goats on board!
The children engaged in an informative and illuminating conversation as they compared bus journeys in the United Kingdom with big Ali’s bus journey in Africa.
We watched short clips and looked at some pictures of the real landmarks which we found really exciting!
Take a peek at our exciting week. Enjoy!
