In Year 5, we are trying to grow an onion from another onion using artificial propagation! So far, we have cut off the end of the onion and positioned it over some water to help the roots grow. This week, we will plant it in soil and wait to see if it grows!
We had a visitor who discussed lots of facts about earth and space, which was our science topic this term. She gave us lots of activities to imagine what life is like as an astronaut, including using robotic arms!
We really enjoyed learning a Bollywood dance today. We learnt some different hand movements and how to wiggle our hips! We put our movements into a sequence and performed to each other. Some of us were lucky enough to wear the jingling sashes!
Year 5 were visited by a Viking history expert today who showed us many artifacts and items used in Viking times. Children had the chance to dress up as a Viking and play some of their games. We also made our own Viking coin out of clay.
Year 2 enjoyed a visit to Christ Church today. We spent time looking around the church at all of the features and listened to the bells chime! Oscar helped to demonstrate what happens during a Christening service.
Today we wore our Easter bonnets and paraded them through the school as well as to parents at home time! They were fantastic – great creations this year! Have a lovely Easter break!
Last week was British Science Week and we invited Fizz Pop Science into our school to deliver an assembly. The children really enjoyed learning about and observing the experiments. We are looking forward to the science clubs which will start after Easter!
We have celebrated World Book Day with some fantastic costumes and activities today. We focused on Alice in Wonderland and completed some maths with playing cards. Then we wrote a prediction all about the White Rabbit. In the afternoon, we designed our own Mad Hatter hats, before having some quiet reading time. A lovely day!

On Wednesday, we were taught some traditional lion dancing to celebrate Chinese New Year. We moved with the fans and worked together to walk around with the whole lion! It was amazing!
