This afternoon we celebrated the Queens Platinum Jubilee with our Perryfields Family. The whole school joined us on a dry if a little blustery occassion. We enjoyed eating our party food and having time with all our friends.
This afternoon we have been learning about another style of Art called pop art. We then created our own piece of pop art in the style of Andy Warhol.
This afternoon we have looked at seasonal fruit and vegetables and how they are processed for us to buy in the shops. Afterwards we designed and made a fruit salad. In Science we have started to learn about a life cycle. We listened to the story Caterpillar Butterfly by Viviene French and then discussed the main stages of a butterflies life cycle. We had a great attempt at creating the life cycle.
This week we have learnt about St George. We learnt that he is the patron saint of England. St George was thought specifically to protect animals against the plague. He is most famous for the legend of St George and the Dragon. You can watch the story here: We then created our own dragons.
This afternoon we have created our own Easter rainbows. We used kitchen towel and drew bands of colour on each edge. We then gently popped the coloured edges into the water and watched as the colours merged to create our Easter rainbows. It was all very exciting.
As part of Science week this afternoon we have been learning just how wonderful worms are. Worms are incredible recyclers. They munch away on leaves, debris and flowers. This then creates better soil for our trees, plants and flowers to thrive in. Worms are wonderful burrowers too. The burrows then create pathways for more water…
Today we are helping to raise money for Comic Relief by wearing red. Look at how bright we all look in our red and on such a sunny day. We hope wherever you are in the world today you have a fantastic day too.
In music today we learnt a piece of rock music – Don’t stop believin’ by Journey. We identified pace and tempo and also attempted to learnt some of the lyrics. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
Today we have been learning about our sense of taste. Did you know children have twice as many taste buds as adults? We learnt how messages travel from our taste buds to our brains and how there are 5 basic tastes; sweet, sour, bitter, salty and umami. We then tested our taste buds by trying…
