Today , we have been learning about an Italian artist called Pietro Annigoni. He is famous for his portraits of Queen Elizabeth II. We used oil pastels to try to recreate the effect of dark and light in Annigoni’s portrait of the Queen, painted in 1969.
We worked carefully to blend pastels and create darker and lighter shading. Then we used pencil and crayon to draw and shade the detail onto the Queen’s image.
Here are some photographs of our learning.
