Here in Buttercups, we have been developing our sewing skills by creating frog beanbags. We persevered to thread our own needles and are really proud of our results.
Year 2 were visited by PC Taylor who talked to us about his role in the British Transport Police. He showed us the kit he carries around with him to keep us safe (it was incredibly heavy when we tried it on!) and then gave us all a treat by letting us sit in the…
Reception and Key Stage One had a visit from the Library this morning. We were treated to a performance to encourage us to take part in the Summer Reading Challenge- we do love reading and discovering new books which take us off to magical lands, maybe you could visit the library in the holidays and…
Poppy and Buttercups class took part in our very own Sing Up Assembly this morning, lead by Mrs Baker. It was fantastic fun to sing songs and it really brightened our morning- some of us even got to play instruments!
We were lucky enough to meet Dan and his Guide Dog Midge. He answered any questions we had and taught us how his best friend Midge helps him get around. It made us realise how lucky we all are- and how amazing animals are that they can be someone’s eyes!
Year 2 enjoyed a trip to the canal yesterday, learning all about locks, how they work and even getting to open them for some passing canal boats. The children learnt how to be safe around canals and to always Stay Away From Edges!

It was also a day to celebrate the end of our SATS and the fact that we worked incredibly hard during this exhausting week. We played Pirate Top Trumps, ate piratey snacks (even braving trying Twiglets!) and watched a…
On Wednesday 9th May, Year 2 walked to King’s Community Church and to Christ Church. We looked at and compared the two churches and explored the key parts of a C of E Church. This will help us with our RE as we are learning about different places of worship.
Buttercups have been lucky enough to have our Forest School this half term. Every Thursday, we have wrapped up warm (braving the elements and the seemingly never-ending winter) and enjoyed time building bug hotels or building impressive dens. We love the chance to be outside and really use our imagination and collaboration skills.
