Today, Year One started a new unit of English learning about writing a set of instructions.
First. we discussed what a set of instructions is and where we may have seen them before. We know that they might be on a game that we play to tell us how to play it, or maybe we have seen them in a recipe book when we have baked cakes at home.
We followed step-by-step instructions to create a dinosaur skeleton using pasta. This taught us to look for key information and to make sure we read each step properly. We used our listening, noticing and managing distractions BLP skills really well to complete our learning. It was a lot of fun, if not rather sticky!
We will be writing our own set of instructions this week and will be applying skills used today in our written learning.
