On Friday, Year One used our enrichment time to explore the continent of Africa. We used an atlas to explore key features such as the different countries, whether there are lots or rivers and to look at the size of the Sahara.
In the afternoon, we spent time in each classroom creating artwork. Miss Riley taught us about the animals we might find were we to go on a safari and we used different materials to create a collage. This was interesting because we love learning about wildlife in other countries that we don’t see in their natural habitat here in the UK. Mrs Taylor taught us about how different tribes use masks for celebrations or festivals in their villages before we used paper plates to create our own design based on ones we looked at from Namibia.
It was a great way to develop our Geography skills and explore the world in which we live.
