Materials are all around us and this half term we have been exploring a range of materials. Materials are used to make different things. Some everyday materials are glass, metal, wood, fabric, plastic, rubber, water, paper and rocks. Some materials can be transparent or opaque and absorbent or non-absorbent. They can also be waterproof. This week, we grouped objects into man-made (manufactured) and natural materials. We know that natural materials come from plants, animals or the ground such as feathers, water and sand. We also watched video clips that showed us how sand and paper are made.
Do you know that glass is made from sand?
