First Week in Year One

5th September 2024

We have welcomed new children into their Amber and Marmalade classes this week and we have been busy settling into our new rooms and new routines.

Year One have been thinking about developing the skills we will need to shine this year, including our reading and maths skills. We had to count dots on dominoes and match them to the total on the tray which was great fun to do with our friends. We also had to use magnetic letters to try and spell CVC words, which was a little tricky but made us use our BLP resilience muscle.

We are also enjoying learning how to thread cotton reels and beads onto strings to make bracelets as this will strengthen our fine motor skills ready for all of the amazing writing we will do over the year- keep your eyes on our class blogs to see what we produce!

It has been a busy week so far and we are all feeling a little tired (teachers included), but we are happy to be back at school and with our friends.
