We have been busy developing our DT skills by designing our own flying machines. Year One have been learning about how planes have changed throughout history from Leonardo da Vinci’s hand powered wooden machine to the Airbus we may have been on today.
First we thought carefully about what materials we would need to make our own machines and then drew a labelled diagram to help us. Then it was time for construction! We raided our recycling boxes at home and brought in an array of items we could use.
We worked carefully following our designs and noted that we sometimes have to make adaptations as things don’t always go according to plan. It was a brilliant way to spend our afternoon and we used so many of our BLP muscles whilst working. We were totally absorbed in our learning and we know everyone at home thought they were brilliant too.
