Good afternoon year 4. Here is your home learning for Wed, Thurs and Fri this week. You have 1 piece of English, 1 piece of Maths and 1 piece of additional work for the afternoon to complete every day.
English
This week we will be continuing our learning about climbing Mount Everest and writing the next aspect of our diary entry. Previously we wrote about getting to base camp and setting off towards the next camp . This week we will be imagining that we have got to camp 4 and are spending the next few hours here. This is the final stop and then we will be setting off for the summit.
Wednesday – Look at footage/animations of climbing Mount Everest.
Note down the different stages and what the climbers will do and dangers they face.
Use drama to re-enact climbing through each part of the climb.
Thursday – come up with sentences to describe each part of the climb, remember to include the fronted adverbials you learnt about with at the beginning of the week.
Stages in Climbing Mount Everest
Friday – Begin to write a diary account about climbing Mount Everest – talk about climbing through the 3 main stages Cwm, Lhotse face and South Col. Finish entry as though they are at camp 4 and about to climb the summit that evening.
Afternoons
Wednesday
Clubs – On the school website under the tab Curriculum>Maths Resources are the times table clubs. Please complete the clubs sheet that you would be doing in school. Remember to set your timer for 5 minutes.
Spellings – complete the activity on correctly spelt words found on the sheet below.
Thursday – RE. Look through Powerpoint on the Ten Lepers.
This story is part of a ‘Gospel’ which means good news. What is leprosy? Look at: www.leprosymission.org.uk
Would you want to touch someone with leprosy? Why did Jesus touch the leper? Think about how we could help people who are not accepted in society – e.g. homeless, disabled people etc.
Activity – Create your own poster for what Leprosy is and how we can help people who may have leprosy.
Friday
PSHE – Should anyone be able to buy a pet? Read through the sheet below from Picture News.
Create a wanted poster for the perfect pet owner. What things do owners of pets need to think about and do? What qualities should the perfect pet owner have?
We look forward to seeing you work at sky@perryfields-pri.sandwell.sch.uk or ocean@perryfields-pri.sandwell.sch.uk.
Please note we will be keeping a record of who is submitting work and responding accordingly.
Many thanks,
Mrs Kenth
