Learning about our food.

To help further our understanding of what farmers grow on their farms, we spent our English lesson developing our oracy skills with our partners. We had to sort fruit and vegetables into the correct groupings based on what we learned listening to and watching a video.

We know Spring is a very busy time of the farm, with seeds being sown and animals being born. It is important that we start to understand where our food comes from and all the hard work that goes into producing fresh, delicious fruit and vegetables. At the start of the lesson, we were able to discuss our favourites- unsurprisingly nobody was a fan of sprouts!

We had to listen to our partners and come up with a joint decision about whether a food was a fruit or a vegetable, which provided us with chance to develop our language and understanding. It was interesting when we had to place a tomato in the correct column, do you know where we had to place it?

Year One really enjoyed our learning today and we are excited to see where our learning takes us.
