Hello Magnificent Marmalade Minions!
I hope everyone is well. How was your weekend? What did you do this weekend?
Well, I have been working on your reports and I am looking forward to speaking with you all this week!
I have seen some amazing rockets over the last few weeks. You all worked very hard at this task and were very creative.
Thanks to you all, we can zoom to the moon!
This week, is all about researching and gathering information about the first man on the moon. We’ll dive into the world of three astronauts, Neil Armstrong, Edwin ‘Buzz‘ Aldrin, Micheal Collins and their trip to the moon in the space craft, ‘Apollo 11’.

Neil Armstrong Facts- National Geographic Kids
I hope you enjoyed learning about man’s first step on the moon. Your tasks for this week have been listed below.
TASK 1: Writing Activity
Create a fact-file on your findings about Neil Armstrong and his adventure to the moon.
– Remember to include your title, sentences and some drawings or pictures.
– Be creative in your presentation- it could be a mind map or a poster with sentences. You can also use this fact-file template.
TASK 2: Creative Activity
Make or draw a moon.
– You can make if from clay or paper mache.
– You can draw it with chalk on a black card or you can paint it!
Enjoy and be creative!
That’s one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.

Jamie has completed the writing activity this morning.
How prompt! A Fantastic fact-file. I am pleased to read your extended sentences. Well done! A well deserved positive for you!
As you know writing is Tommy’s least favourite thing to do. We (well I) decided we’d get this done first. He persevered for the morning and got the writing activity done without too much complaining. He now says he feels good because it is done out of the way 😄
You made me laugh! I am pleased that you have thought carefully about your layout and sentence structure. This is beautifully presented. Well done!
This is Aleenas fact sheet on Neil Armstrong we will attempt to do a paper mache moon tomorrow 🤞.
Well done Super star! This is beautifully presented! You have earned a positive for this task!
I think we now have an astronaut in the making apparently Harrison is going to be the next man on the moon. Him and daddy have spent ages looking at YouTube clips from the space station. Loving this topic
Look at that writing! You have worked hard at this and the end result is fantastic fact-file. I am very pleased with all the information you gathered.
Today we made our moon after speaking to you on the phone. We got hold of black card. And using chalk and rubbing it in with our fingers 😊
Beautiful! Well done!
We then decided to be slightly creative using our moon, rocket, planets we made and a black sheet with talc powder. Jamie really enjoyed doing this 😊
I am delighted that you enjoyed this activity. Good job!
What we made.
Oh my! I am gobsmacked! It has turned out even better than I imagined. Glad you managed to get hold of the black card. Super! It looks like that rocket is finally on it’s way to space.
This is Aleenas paper mache moon didn’t turn out as I’d hoped it would but we definitely had fun making it.
It looks fab to me- very innovative! The light effect models what the actual moon does- it reflects light from the sun. Well done!
That’s what we were going for we put a torch inside the paper mache but I was hoping the layers wouldn’t show up.
Good thinking! The effect was achieved irrespective. 👍
Niamh really enjoyed this task
Oh my! This is amazing! You have worked really hard at this. It is beautifully presented with a title, lots of facts (sentences) and photographs/drawings too. These key elements of a fact-file were incorporated here. You deserve a positive. This definitely warmed my heart.
Niamh enjoyed learning about the moon and Neil Armstrong
I am glad you enjoyed it!
Everyone’s models are so good!
Here is James’s fact file. We’re about to start the papier mache!
Wow! Brilliant extended sentences, title, picture/ drawing, good use of capital letters for proper nouns and well punctuated too. Do I spot an exclamation mark? You have worked really hard on this. Way to go!
They have all worked really hard on their models. I can’t wait to see James’. Enjoy!
Noah wanted to do a rainbow astronaut Neil Armstrong😌
I like your rainbow astronaut- Neil Armstrong! 🙂 What a detailed fact file with extended sentences. You have earned some positives for this task!
Noahs moon
Look at that lovely smile. Well done superstar! What a beautiful moon. I think the idea of chalk on a black background is brilliant!
Tommy made a paper mache moon with some help from Mommy and little brother Harry. Once it was hard we painted it with silver glitter paint. The paint wasn’t as thick as I thought and was transparent other than the glitter so it didn’t cover the newspaper as well as we would have liked.
It looks lovely all the same and that huge smile tells me you enjoyed this activity. I hope little brother did too 🙂 Well done superstar!
One tiny lego step for man…
I waited long for this and you didn’t disappoint! It goes really well with your rocket and little astronaut figures! Well done!
