We have been learning about the artist Andy Goldsworthy as this links to our Theme of ‘Into the Woods’ because he uses natural materials to create beautiful and inspiring art. Our first lesson was spent looking at examples of his creations and discussing with our classmates which materials he used in the process. Did you know Andy Goldsworthy uses materials such as twigs, grass, pine cones and even ice in his art?
It was finally our turn to go outside and see what we could find to create artwork. In small groups we gave each other jobs to make sure everyone was included and this allowed us to develop our collaboration and listening skills. It also meant we had to show patience and take turns to help our group make the best artwork we could. Some of us made repeating patterns, whilst others of us were inspired by the sun and used leaves and twigs to create circular patterns.
