Praise Assemblies/ Hot Chocolate Monday

Well done to all our pupils who received Praise Certificates. Always lovely to hear comments made by the staff regarding the children’s individual achievements. Added to which it’s a real treat to spend time with the children who consistently make the right choice.

Well-being Charter Mark

We’re proud to announce that Perryfields has renewed our ‘Well-being Charter Mark’.

The Sandwell Charter Mark was originally developed following publication of Public Health England’s guidance for schools and colleges and changes to SEND code of practice including social, emotional and mental health. Since then, the Sandwell Charter Mark focusses on 8 principles. As you may be aware the school recently went through a reassessment process to assess if we could retain our School Charter Mark. Perryfields Primary has met all 8 principles and has successfully retained the Sandwell Charter Mark for another 3 years.

World Book Day- 6th March

Thank you to everyone that dressed up for World Book Day. It was lovely to see so many creative costumes.

Earrings

Can we please remind parents that one pair of studs is permitted and not two. Also please aim to have your child’s ears pierced during the summer holiday as they will NOT be allowed to take part in PE whilst wearing earrings.

Competition Winner

We are pleased to share that Olivia, a Year 4 pupil entered The Fruities and Veggies Competition, organised by 2Simple, to create a digital poster promoting healthy eating habits.

Using the Purple Mash platform, Olivia designed a vibrant and imaginative house for one of the “Fruities and Veggies” characters. She carefully selected colours, drawing shapes, and playful elements to bring her design to life, incorporating organic fluid shapes, multicoloured strokes for texture, fruits as windows, and giant fruits and vegetables as key features. Olivia dedicated several hours to completing her creative work and felt very proud as she submitted it. Her efforts have achieved her the Under 9s age, runner up prize.  Well Done Olivia!

Request for Dolls and Pushchairs

Early Years are asking for donations of any unwanted dolls pushchairs and prams to be kindly given to school for the children to play with. These will all be gratefully received.

Religious Artefact Donations

To enable us to enhance our RE resources, we are looking for religious artefacts for our lessons. Examples of these include:

Christianity: children’s bibles, different types of crosses, rosary beads, hymn books

Sikhism: posters or photographs or the gurus, photos of the golden temple, prayer beads, khanda symbol, kara, kanga, prayer books, ready made turban, “Ek Onkar” symbol

Islam: prayer mat, hijab, hat, child friendly version of the Quran, prayer beads, Arabic alphabet, Eid cards

Hinduism: figurines or photographs of religious gods, deities, puja tray, diva lamp, incense sticks, prayer beads, Aum symbol, Diwali cards, Raksha Bandan cards

Judaism: Star of David symbol, menorah, Seder plate, Torah scrolls

If you have any available and would be willing to donate them, please bring them to the school office.

We are also looking for some local religious leaders who would be willing to come into school and share their knowledge with the children in a child-friendly manner. If you know of anyone who would fit this description, please pass their details to the school office.

Maternity Leave – Year 3, Emerald Class

Miss Hollis in Year 3 Emerald Class will be starting her Maternity leave after the Easter break. We are pleased to announce that Mrs Danks will be covering the class in her absence. We wish Miss Hollis all the best.

Office Staff

We are sorry to inform you that Mrs Smith will be leaving our admin team to take up a position in another primary school. Despite only having worked at Perryfields for a short space of time, Mrs Smith will be missed. Miss James has been appointed and will join the Perryfields team after the Easter break.

Plas Gwynant

Next Monday a group of 42 pupils (mainly from Year 6) will be attending the Plas Gwynant residential in Snowdonia for a week of activities hopefully with the sun continuing to shine. Accompanying the children will be Mr Harris, Miss Hendy, Miss Edwards, Mrs Jones and Mrs Baker. Could parents/carers please take their child straight to the hall next Monday morning so that registers can be taken and medicines etc collected.

Easter Eggs and Easter Bonnet Competition

Once again we are inviting children from Reception, Year One and Year Two to make an Easter bonnet to wear on Wednesday 9th April. Please do not send bonnets in before this date. Weather permitting, we will hold an Easter Bonnet Parade at 3pm on the day of the event and should parents, grandparents etc. wish to join us on the playground you would be very welcome to watch. Children in Years Three – Six are invited to create an “eggstra” special scene etc. using boiled eggshells. All entries should be in school by Monday 7th April for judging to take place on Tuesday 8th (Those going to Plas Gwynant may hand their entries in on Friday 4th April).

Street Food Tuesdays

The children are really enjoying our Kitchen 72 Street Food. This is a regular weekly initiative available to all pupils even those who usually have sandwiches. If you would like your child to enjoy the Street Food theme day, please contact the school office to book this each week.

Garden Project Shout Out

Perryfields are looking for any gardeners or handy people that can help our Community Garden Project in any way in the future. Please contact the school office for further details. Please don’t forget to donate to our project. To do this you can use the ‘GoFundMe’ website link: https://www.gofundme.com/f/

MIS Switch

Having switched our MIS (Management of Information System) from SIMS to Bromcom we are understandably experiencing a few teething problems. We ask that you remain patient during this process. One of the changes will be our communication with parents (amongst other things) and will replace ParentMail. We will keep you informed of the changes as they occur.

Attendance

In order for an absence to be authorised, please be reminded to notify the school of a child’s absence before 8:45am on the day. If your child has an appointment, we advise that you notify the school in advance so that class teachers can be informed. If you would like someone else to collect your child, please inform the school as early as possible so that the message can be passed onto the class teacher in advance.

School doors open at 8:45am and close at 8:55am when the registers will be taken.

Calls from School

If you receive a missed call from school, please check to see if you have received a message via Voicemail, Class Charts or ParentMail before calling the school as messages are not always passed to the office due to the staff making direct contact via the mentioned channels.
