21st June 2024

This term we have been running fun sessions for our families to support their child’s transition into reception class.  The sessions covered independence, including getting dressed.  Fingers as tools, including using a knife and fork and ideas to strengthen muscles in children’s hands and fingers so they are ready to write in school.  Finally first day at school, including recognising our names and talking about “big school” as an adventure the children are ready for.

We had lots of great feedback from those families who took part and will be doing the sessions again next year.

“Lovely tips and tricks on how to get them ready for the next stage – Reception.  Insightful sessions.”

“I found the sessions very informative. A reminder of how important it is to be confident and bold and ready for the next stage.  It’s amazing to see how far they have come.”

“Thank you for inviting us.  It has been really informative, given us a lot to think about and will really help my son in his transition.  Thanks again”

“I have loved the moving on up sessions.  It has been very helpful to have advice on how we can prepare our children for big school.  It is so special to come into pre-school to work with our children.”

“The Moving on up sessions have been so helpful for me.  I have taken away some really handy tips that I wouldn’t have thought of and feel much more prepared for school in September.  It has also shown me where I have been on the right track.”
