In school today, the children learnt all about V.E. day. We were lucky enough to learn more about the armed forces and their work from Mr. Wagg who brought in lots of memorabilia from World war II. Some of us were able to try on the uniforms and imagine what it would be like wearing the heavy woollen uniforms.
We then created some decorations – bunting, flags and paper hats ready for our afternoon celebration.
Lily and Isabella made lemonade, using a wartime recipe and we also had some scones made with carrot instead of egg as these were rationed in the war.
The children enjoyed their party in the sunshine.
I hope you enjoy your V.E. day celebrations.

You all look like you had a fantastic day! I wish I’d been there!
Wow, what a great day you had. I loved the costumes and the themed baking.
Looks like you had a fab day! Great that you were able to try on real uniforms, what an experience! Well done for trying out the baking ideas- hope you had a lovely party.
Mrs Francis and I made bunting for our house and sat out on our front step for lunch like lots of our neighbours on VE day. It was nice to celebrate with people even if we were socially distancing. Hope everyone had a good weekend.
