Hello Magnificent Marmalade Minions!
We are coming to the end to the school year- only nine more days to go. Can you believe that? It has been so long since we all saw each other and I understand that you miss your friends and routine. We do miss you all. You have all been very brave and courageous; putting your best foot forward and taking it all in stride.
I am very proud of my Marmalade Minions, (every single one of you) and I am sure your parents are proud of you too. I am awarding every minion a positive for courage and another for engagement!
This week we’ll be learning about time! When we look at time in Year 1, we do not only cover telling the time but we also include dates; such as days of the week and months of the year.
Our objectives for this week are:
- Sequence events in chronological order using language [for example, before and after, next, first, today, yesterday, tomorrow, morning, afternoon and evening.
- Recognise and use language relating to dates, including days of the week, weeks, months and years.
- Tell the time to the hour and half past the hour and draw the hands on a clock face to show these times.
Some of the key vocabulary we would be using this week include: time, clock, minute hand, hour hand, big hand, small hand, hour, minute, second, intervals, past, to, o’clock, half past, before, after, next, last, earlier, later, morning, faster, slower, afternoon, evening, midnight, days of the week, day, weeks, months, year.

Remember to choose worksheets based on our Minion’s understanding of the concept. Children may complete only one page of each activity.
Activity 1 (Practical) – Cut and order the days and months of the year (You would need a pair of scissors for this. Please handle scissors with care)
Alternative Activity 1- Order the days of the week and months of the year (Worksheets)
Answers for Alternative Activity 1
Activity 2- Making a clock face. There are two challenges; choose your challenge and make your clock face.
Activity 3- Time to the hour
Answers for Activity 3
Activity 4- Time to the half hour
Answers for Activity 4
The worksheets are an added resource. You can make this lesson as practical as possible. On the hour and half hour, you can ask your child to tell you the time (you can use the teaching clock tool above).
Recap the days of the week and months of the year by asking questions such as what day is it today? Yesterday was… tomorrow will be … What month is your birthday? etc.
I cannot wait to see your fantastic work in the comment section below.

This comment has made Aleena smile from ear to ear thank you Mrs O x
Time is something we had been working on at home. I had also noticed Tommy had forgotten how to spell some of the days of the week and months of the year so I thought it would be good for him to recap.
He has managed to compete activities 1 and 2.
Here’s activity 1 page 1
I am pleased you are recapping your spellings with this task. You even remembered to use capital letters for the days pf the week and months of the year. Way to go champ!
